Which products you really need for extensions - and which you don't

Anyone who wears extensions will quickly notice:
Not every Hair products that look or smell good on the drugstore shelf are also suitable for extensions.
On the contrary - the wrong products are one of the most common reasons why extensions dry out prematurely, become matted or damage the connection points.

You really need these products

1. mild shampoo - absolute foundation

A Sulphate-, paraben- and silicone-free shampoo is mandatory if you wear extensions.

Why?

  • Gently cleanses
  • Does not dry out the extensions
  • Does not attack keratin bondings and tapes
  • Gentle on scalp and own hair

Application tip:
Only work the shampoo into the roots, the lengths are automatically cleansed when rinsing.

2. nourishing mask - moisturising for lengths & tips

As extensions are not supplied with nutrients via the scalp, a high-quality mask is essential. This must also sulphate-, paraben- and silicone-free be.

Recommendation:

  • With every hair wash
  • only in lengths & tips
  • not on the connection points

A good mask:

Reduces frizz
✔ Keeps the hair supple

3. hair oil - the key to combating dry ends

Hair oil is one of the most important products for extensions - but is often underestimated.

Advantages:

  • Less frizz

Perfect:

  • after washing
  • In dry or slightly damp hair
  • before sleeping
  • before brushing

Important: The hair oil must also not contain any sulphates, parabens or silicones.

4. the right extension brush

Normal brushes are unsuitable for extensions and can:

  • Loosen bonding
  • Pull out hair
  • cause unnecessary hair loss

A special extension brush:
Protects the connection points

5. heat protection - when you style

Heat without protection is one of the biggest enemies of extensions.

Good heat protection:

  • Contains no sulphates, parabens or silicones
  • Protects against dehydration
  • Prevents split ends

Important: Apply to lengths & tips only - not directly on the connection points.

You do NOT need these products - or should avoid them

1. anti-dandruff shampoos

These are:

  • Strongly cleansing
  • often alcoholic
  • Very drying

👉 For extensions absolutely unsuitable.

2. deep cleansing & detox products

These products attack the hair structure and significantly shorten the life of extensions.

3. too many products at once

Too many care products lead to:

  • Residues
  • heavy hair
  • faster regreasing
  • Increased risk of matting

👉 The following applies to extensions: Quality instead of quantity.

The ideal extension care routine

A functioning routine consists of:
Sulfate-, paraben- and silicone-free care products
✔ Mild shampoo
Nourishing mask

✔ Heat protection

That's all you need - everything else is optional.
